Backpack and School Supply Drives in Rochester

It’s “Back to School” time! All the backpacks, pencils, and notebooks are on display at your favorite stores, and it’s time to stock up and set your kids up for success this school year. Those supplies can get expensive, and there are many families in the Rochester region that are unable to cover the costs. However, there are many organizations in our area that are collecting backpacks and school supplies for children in need! If you’d like to support another family, here is a list of organizations and businesse collecting backpacks and school supplies, with links for more information. Happy shopping!

Pencils and Paper - Jewish Family Services
Collection is ongoing. Teachers of participating schools are permitted to shop for free supplies throughout the year.
Deadline is August 18th. Supplies may be dropped off anytime the YMCA is open. Wishlist is linked above.
Drop off window is August 14th-18th. Supplies may be dropped off Monday - Friday, 11am-4pm.

The Summit Federal Credit Union
Deadline is August 11th. Drive supports multiple organizations and local needs can be found at your branch location.
Healthy Moms Program - Rochester Regional Health (flyer)

Shop off the Walmart registry linked above.
Drop off supplies at any Five Star bank location in Monroe County and the Ide Family of Dealerships (Honda and VW locations). Deadline is August 21st.
Stuff The Bus day with Walmart - August 19th, 10am-2pm at the the Gates, Henrietta, and Webster Walmart locations.
Drop off supplies at the Salvation Army Northwest location at 100 West Avenue, Rochester on August 23rd from 9am-1pm.
Rise Up Rochester, Inc & Starbridge
Deadline is August 18th. Supplies can be dropped off at Starbridge from 9am-4pm.
Do The Right Thing of Rochester (Rochester Police Department)
Deadline is August 11th. Supplies can be dropped off in the lobby of the Public Safety Building.
